Cabin Getaway

I was so sad to leave my last foster family... but it was time to continue my journey, so I ventured on to Virginia and a wee pet-friendly getaway!! After all, a busy traveling hound needs to take a little break -- so I booked a few days at Paws & Reflect Cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Shenandoah Valley. It's such a great spot to sneak away and relax (WITH the really impawtent pups)... take a look...

I spent some time lounging on the great deck... pawfect for a beautiful fall day! They have very convenient stairs to help us low-slung woofers climb up on the bed. There's even a great photo memorial to all the great pets who've stayed here! Wonder if they'll add my photo?

What a great place to relax and unwind!

Vroom Vroom!

Since the beautiful Corvette that is being raffled off was there -- I just HAD to check it out. After all, the House of Puddles is one of the rescues benefiting from the contest. So it was clearly my duty to check out the grand prize! I even asked a few of the GABR people for the keys...

GABR Bash Repawt

I had SUCH a great time at last weekend's Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Bash & Waddle. First, I took a long ride from St. Louis to Dwight, Illinois -- but I never got car sick! As an experienced waddle veteran, I made sure my foster mom, Jan, and my foster siblings were ready for their weekend of fun. (I showed them all how to raid the fridge Friday night -- to store up some energy for the big day!)

After a great breakfast Saturday morning, I got to hang out in the Drooler tent. Lisa Potter (Romeo & Juliet's mom) hosted me on Saturday while my foster mom volunteered. I had a great time.

Before the parade, I tried out the throne... which was VERY comfy! But the BIG MOMENT came when the bahrootiful Grace was crowned as Queen of the Waddle. She's one incredible houndie -- and she promised me that I could ride on the parade float.

Being the protective houndette that she is, Grace insisted I ride between her and King Benjamin. She didn't want me to fall off the float.

Doing the Math...

I even got to go to school with my foster mom Sue! The kids loved hearing about my mission. They were so interested in what I am doing, they went home and told their parents!

A few kids even tried to teach my some math. I think I was a fast learner!

Wendell Bikes for Habitat for Humanity

While I was visiting with my foster mom Sue, I helped to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. It was great to help -- and to have fun.

I met Sue's friend Kim. She was very happy to finally meet me because she heard so much about me. I got to ride nice and comfy up front with Sue. This way I could see everything on the bike trail. I also didn't have to do any pedaling.

They put on a wonderful spread after the ride. It was a good thing because I was really hungry. I also got to have a little taste of the micro brew beer!

Woofin' from Woofstock

I met SO many kewl people and pups at Woofstock. When I'd waddle by, my fans would call my name! I saw lots of familiar faces and made some new friends too. My new pal Amy liked me so much, she gave me presents from the store!

I even met a basset like ME (okay, maybe a little bigger)! I also met Kahuna... the big Kahuna! Wow!

Peace * Love * Drool

I had a BLAST at Woofstock!! But I was very busy. I had an extra long trip in the car because my foster mom Sue got everyone lost... but I did get to share the ride. I snuggled on the lap seat with Riley and enjoyed the window seat with Wilbur.

We arrived a little late, but that was okay. We immediately registered and mmmmmm there are some fries. No one is looking -- and it was a long ride so a little taste won't hurt!

It wasn't all fun and games. I had a job to do! I helped sell books for Tom Schreck!

It was a beautiful day! The weather was wonderful, and the lake was gorgeous!

Whew! I'm bushed! Check back later to meet all the incredible hounds and humans from Woofstock! I need a nap!

A Basset Plays with the Bichons

I made a special visit to the Bichon Bash! Okay, so I'm not actually a Bichon -- but there were some adorable girl-pups there -- and everyone welcomed me!! It was a real blast!!

Shirley Hendel, President of Maryland Bichon Frise Rescue, personally welcomes me to the Bash! Do you think I'll blend in?

DROOLMBL

Wendell said goodbye to the Goose Gaggle Giggle but looked forward to his time with Sue and Tom Schreck. (Tom wrote those wonderful books about Duffy Dombrowski.) Auntie Amanda let Wendell Drive the DROOLMBL to the meeting place, a Park-and-Ride between Saugerties and Albany. He was thrilled to meet Sue Schreck, who promised to take him to her school next week, as well as to Woofstock.

Saying Good-Bye to His Pals

Ah, my last day in the Dogskills. Wendell has bonded so much with the Goose Gaggle Giggle.

Wearing his new t-shirt from Woodstock, he romped with Babe, tossed toys with Corkie and snuggled with Janey on her couch. He sniffed Toby but let him sleep.

My Dogskills Family

I so enjoyed spending time hanging out in the backyard with the Goose Gaggle Giggle. They have about an acre and a half that’s completely fenced, with several dog doors from the house, so they can come and go as they please. The dogs love to stand or sit at the top of the steps and watch Auntie Amanda as she gardens.

I hung out with Corkie and Janey and then got into a discussion with Babe about ears. He was somewhat upset when he heard that I'd won several longest ears contests. He's a grand guy!
